If your father is still with you, as mine is, do take time out and make the day special for him. This picture was taken on June 6th at the birthday party that was given for him and my brother-in-law (their birthdays are the 5th & 6th).
HISTORY OF FATHER'S DAY:
Whereas the establishment of Mother's Day was greeted with immediate enthusiasm in the US (was sanctioned as a national holiday in 1914), the creation of Father's Day took rather longer. The brainchild of Ms. Sonora Smart Dodd in 1910, Father's Day was proposed to honor fathers like her own: William Smart, a Civil War veteran, who raised six children after the death of his wife.
