I Am Still Around

I finally have started feeling well enough to start sewing projects.  However, a great deal of house work is staring at me, too.  Well, today I am doing set goals in house work, and then I will initiate a sewing project.  I will try to follow this pattern daily for the rest of the week and see how it goes.

I am committed to making some doll clothes for the American Girl doll for my granddaughter.  The first is a smocked night gown and the pattern is one created by Genine Wren, which I plan to pleat and smock today.  If I am up to it, I will sew it today...but that may be put on tomorrow's agenda.

The next project will be collars for myself and my 2 granddaughters to "dress up" a bit or just for a change in looks.  I recently obtained some Simplicity patterns at Hancock Fabrics while they were 5/$5.  I have plain knit tops, in which a collar that just is worn around the neck (not attached to the garment), can be jazzed up with such an accessory.   Naturally, my older granddaughter likes the look of the animal print.  Well, off to do house work and then, to manage some sewing!

Back to Sewing

I finally completed a sewing project!  Here are two of three neck pillows that I whipped together this week.  The pink zebra striped print flannel pillow was made for my granddaughter as part of her Valentine's gift.  The butterfly pillow is for me and it's duplicate has been given to a dear friend.  If you would like to make one for yourself, go to the Sew 4 Home site.  I cannot sleep without a pillow shaped like this.  Now, I need to make a couple more in order to keep them in my car, or just use when lying back in the recliner for my daily afternoon rest.

iPod Nano News

I am now in the process of making iPod Nano fabric wristbands after I finally made one for myself.  I like it so much that I have decided to create more.  I will post a photo of mine later today (I hope) and get to work on more from various types of fabrics such as denim, suede-like material, etc.  Do check back - I will tweet and post on Facebook when I have some ready to market.

Pumpkins Abound!

These and other pumpkins made by me can be found on my ETSY shop.
If you would like duplicates of these shown, please contact me for availability (depends on availability of material).  If you would like a pumpkin made for you in a specific color or theme, do not hesitate to contact me:  I will take all requests into consideration, which really depends on whether material is obtainable or on my time restraints.

A Hit with My Granddaughter

This pumpkin set was created today and is a hit with my 8-year-old granddaughter!  I have created so many pumpkins of different fabrics and accents, and this was not the one that I expected her to gravitate towards.  Even my husband was wowed by it.

This set and other pumpkins made by me are listed on my Etsy shop.

I hope to have all pumpkins listed by late Friday.  I have to take my father to his doctor tomorrow (out of town), and I am taking photos, etc., and this takes time.  I have enjoyed creating the pumpkins this time around, and by the first of next week, I am working on another Halloween idea - stay tuned.

Harvesting My Pumpkins

I am in the process of listing, on my Etsy shop, the pumpkins that I completed during the past few days.  I aim to get all posted by late Sunday.  I also have some cloth napkins and a set of Christmas place mats that will go up for sale.

This pumpkin is on an Etsy Treasury! What a compliment!

Another Item Inspired by Gift for Granddaughter

My eight-year-old granddaughter needed a pencil case to clip into a 3-ring-binder for the start of the school year.  Okay, but this item was hard to find, or the ones found, were of poor quality.  So, of course, Grandma was asked to make one.  Hers was made of a more elementary school themed print.

I liked hers so well that I made another of a bi-wing plane printed cotton fabric that is appropriate for a boy, or an adult.  I added outside pockets for easy access to pencils or pens, and a pleated pocket roomy enough to store and access easily, a pencil sharpener, erasers, small sticky notes, etc.

Metal grommets were placed to allow the case to be clipped inside a binder, as seen in the photo here.  The zippered pocket allows for storage of many pencils, etc., and/or a small notebook or journal/planner.

The lining is of a polka dot printed cotton fabric and made as so that there are no exposed seams.  This case is washable and made to be used for a long time.  At this writing, I have one available on my ETSY shop.

Clormey Is Becoming a Butterfly!

I am in the process of drafting out my own pattern for his chrysalis and wings. You can follow me on Twitter and Facebook so that you will be one of the first to receive my announcement of his grand debut as a butterfly.

August 20:  UPDATE:  I am still working on this project as time allows.  I am not rushing this, but am sewing and reworking to get everything to where it suits me.  Stay tuned!

Giveaway

I am squeezing this announcement in as that severe thunderstorms are approaching and I am shutting down my electronics.

I have decided to give away a denim sunglass case with a cute embroidery design of flip flops that I personally digitized.  This photo does not show the embroidery.  Embroidery and finished case will be posted tomorrow.

I monitor my elderly father who lives alone and I had to tend to matters for him today.  Please understand that I am not in a full time business with my handmade items.  I do this as an outlet for my sewing, etc.  Back to the point:  I had planned to create the case and place a photo on my blog - but life goes on and detours have to be taken.

I was requested to offer a sunglass case, and also to offer one of my JellyBean Critters.  I decided to offer the case first, and then a JellyBean next month.  Please check back and follow what you need to do to enter for a chance in the giveaway.  The winner will be announced on June 1st.
