Living Up to My Handmade Pledge

Snowflakes by Gennie Wren
I had to get these newly developed designs by Gennie Wren , http://www.etsy.com/shop/Genniewren .  Mind now, that I have not bought many designs as that I usually create my own or modify designs that I already have on my computer.  I will be busy stitching out these FSL snowflakes for our Christmas trees and cannot wait to display them.

Getting Back on Track & Free Artwork

After a schedule of 6 visits to hospitals and doctors, mainly for my father, within 8 days, I find that I may have time for doing some sewing and creating today.  I have a long list of projects to complete and need to get to it.  But, I am taking time out to publish this and let all, who are interested, know that I am back on track.  The artwork to the left is for your use if you wish to use it... All that I ask is that you give me credit for the artwork as that it is my creation.  It is a variation of one released last year (check out Art to Share tab at top of this page).  Have fun with it!

New Labels for Cher Chic!

I received the labels that were ordered from Jennifer's Jewels and am really am excited about them!  I attached, in an email, a digital copy of a design created by me and told her as to what dimensions I wanted for my label, and viola!...here it is!  Good job, Jennifer.  If you need labels customized for you, click the hot link in this post and convo her.  Oh, by the way, my labels are iron-on, which is very convenient.  Dimensions: 5/8" tall and 1-1/2 inches long.

Clormey Is Becoming a Butterfly!

I am in the process of drafting out my own pattern for his chrysalis and wings. You can follow me on Twitter and Facebook so that you will be one of the first to receive my announcement of his grand debut as a butterfly.

August 20:  UPDATE:  I am still working on this project as time allows.  I am not rushing this, but am sewing and reworking to get everything to where it suits me.  Stay tuned!

THINKING ABOUT CHRISTMAS

I know that someone may be moaning, "already putting things out for Christmas!"  No, I am making it a goal to start making items for Christmas (and Halloween & Thanksgiving) in order to have these ready for the holidays.  As soon as I complete each item, if not for a gift for a family member or close friend, I will post it on Etsy and/or Artfire for sale.
~If you would like to see something made that you have not seen in my blog or shops, feel free to give input.  I will certainly take suggestions into consideration!~

NEW BLOG DESIGN

I succumbed to the temptation of using one of the new Blogger design templates.  I think that this one is easier on the eyes.  Anyway, am still waiting on the camera ... so beware!: New photos will be available soon, I hope!  Meanwhile, I am tending to daily household tasks and working on a unfinished project or two, such as a new machine embroidery design that I am "tweaking."  The design at the right is one that utilizes mylar.  I did this one for a digitizing challenge presented by a Yahoo group.  (Click on image for a more detailed view).

Have a great weekend, everyone!

~:~ Marvelous Monday ~:~

It is raining! Just that fact makes my day so wonderful.

What am I doing? I am listening to music by Annie Lennox and working on a new embroidery design.  I am also in the process of getting together a case for iPhones, etc., as suggested by a follower. I do not have an iPhone, but sure can use a new case for my cell phone.  In fact, I am thinking of making a new purse with matching zippered pouch and cell phone case for myself!!!

What is with the photo?  This is a shot of one of the magnolia blooms on one of the five magnolia trees in my yard.  I love magnolias and they are in bloom now.  It is a good thing I love them as that the leaves keep us busy at a couple times of the year.  I may go out and cut a few to put in a vase in the house - they smell so good!

Recuperating from the Weekend

I am not referring to a Monday "hangover."  I had a really busy weekend and enjoyed it:  Seeing my son receive his Masters degree on Mother's Day and eating dinner with him and my husband.  We stayed overnight and then returned home today.  I am just tired.  But it is a good tired.

Before the weekend, I managed to squeeze in digitizing a peace symbol design [this brings back some memories] and then applied it to some upcycled denim, which was made into another sunglasses / large eyeglass case.  This was digitized to be stitched over mylar which makes the design iridescent - click on the image for a closer look.  I like it so much, that I am contemplating making some more in different colors on the same denim.  Comments, anyone?

Flip-Flops Sunglasses Case GIVEAWAY!

This eyeglass case is excellent for large sunglasses.  The exterior is denim and the interior is of quality flannel to help protect the lenses of your glasses.

It is almost summer, therefore the flip-flops design, which is of my creation, not from a design purchased from elsewhere.

Giveaway

I am squeezing this announcement in as that severe thunderstorms are approaching and I am shutting down my electronics.

I have decided to give away a denim sunglass case with a cute embroidery design of flip flops that I personally digitized.  This photo does not show the embroidery.  Embroidery and finished case will be posted tomorrow.

I monitor my elderly father who lives alone and I had to tend to matters for him today.  Please understand that I am not in a full time business with my handmade items.  I do this as an outlet for my sewing, etc.  Back to the point:  I had planned to create the case and place a photo on my blog - but life goes on and detours have to be taken.

I was requested to offer a sunglass case, and also to offer one of my JellyBean Critters.  I decided to offer the case first, and then a JellyBean next month.  Please check back and follow what you need to do to enter for a chance in the giveaway.  The winner will be announced on June 1st.

Pre-Vacation Comments

I am preparing for my trip scheduled in a few days and am trying to squeeze in a few projects before I leave. One of which is making a couple of items as requested by my grandchild. Some artwork has been completed and is ready to digitize for machine embroidery when I return.

First Entry: An Introduction

Hello!  I am new to blogging and hope that it is a venture that will broaden my life.  I love children and cats.  The joy in my life is my 6 year old granddaughter.  I create things for her and her sister , other members of my family as well as for some dear friends.

I have ventured into the world of Etsy today with a purse that is similar to one that I made for my older granddaughter for Valentine's Day.  I had enough material to create another and hope that it brings enjoyment to another child.  I have some other projects in mind that I will finish and place on Etsy for sale in the future.  I am living life and take on projects as the "whim" hits me.

I taught in the field of the Visual Arts for over 30 years and am an experienced watercolorist with paintings hanging in my home as well in other homes.  I have been involved with sewing since I was in my teens and recently became interested in machine embroidery when the first grand baby arrived.  I also brought out the pleater and made new smocked items for the grandchildren just as I did for my two children were little.  However, I gave away those smocked items to a sister, and to the daughter-in-law of a dear friend of mine when she lost everything during Hurricane Hugo.

Regarding the smocked clothes for my two granddaughters, I also lend them to my "adopted" grandchild who is between the ages of my own granddaughters and then put the smocked articles away (when they are returned) for any future great-grands --- (In order words, I am creating a great-grandmother's chest).

Back to machine embroidery, I am continually creating new  artwork and developing designs from my artwork - I am digitizing the artwork and am learning so much in that I am manually digitizing.  I have a wonderful online mentor who is helping me in my endeavors.  Hopefully, I will put those out on the market for others use.
